Our new Memory Cafe will be a safe space for people with dementia or memory loss, plus their loved ones, companions and carers. Our aim is to provide a relaxed, welcoming space where our guests can chat, reminisce and make friends with others in a similar situation.
Memory Cafe takes place on alternate Wednesdays from10:30am until noon. Guests are welcome to come for the whole session or just part of it, whichever suits them best. Dates for the rest of 2023 are as follows:
September 27th
October 11th
October 25th
November 8th
November 22nd
December 6th
December 20th
All sessions must be booked in advance either online or by phone. There will be a small charge of £2 per person to be paid on arrival. The Bell will provided unlimited tea and coffee, plus home made cake. The Bell are unable to provide one-to-one support or personal care for guests, therefore guests requiring assistance will be required to bring their carer/loved one/companion with them.
The Bell is mostly flat inside, with level access to everywhere except the Gents’ toilet, which has a set of steps leading to it. The pub is over 200 years old so some of the flooring is a little uneven. Care needs to be taken by guests who are unsteady on their feet.
To begin with, capacity will be limited to 10 guests plus their companions/carers. Once the Cafe is established we will review this.
