Our Memory Cafe is a safe space for people with dementia or memory loss, plus their loved ones, companions and carers. Our aim is to provide a relaxed, welcoming space where our guests can chat, reminisce and make friends with others in a similar situation.

Memory Cafe takes place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month between 10:30am and noon. Guests are welcome to come for the whole session or just part of it, whichever suits them best. Dates for 2024 are as follows:

February 14th and 28th
March 13th and 27th
April 10th and 24th
May 8th and 22nd
June 12th and 26th
July 10th and 24th
August 14th and 28th
September 11th and 25th
October 9th and 23rd
November 13th and 27th
December 11th

All sessions must be booked in advance either online or by phone. There will be a small charge of £2 per person to be paid on arrival. The Bell will provide unlimited tea and coffee, plus home made cake. The Bell are unable to provide one-to-one support or personal care for guests, therefore guests requiring assistance will be required to bring their carer/loved one/companion with them.

The Bell is mostly flat inside, with level access to everywhere except the Gents’ toilet, which has a set of steps leading to it. The pub is over 200 years old so some of the flooring is a little uneven. Care needs to be taken by guests who are unsteady on their feet.

To begin with, capacity will be limited to 10 guests plus their companions/carers. Once the Cafe is established we will review this.
